Speaker£ºDr. Shahla Ali (Assistant Professor in Law School of Hong Kong University, Vice Director of LLM Program on Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, a member of Drafting Committee for IBA Investors and State Regulation Rules)
Introduction to speaker:
Dr. Ali mainly focuses on the research of arbitration and dispute resolution, laws and development in East Asia and the ways for judicial practice. Before her teaching in HK, she used to work in International Trade Team in Baker & Mckenzie Law Firm. Dr. Ali got Bachelor Degree in Stanford University and achieved her LLM and JD in University of California, Berkley.
She is a member of California Bar Association, a mediator in HKMC and a public arbitrator in FINRA. She used to exchange views with International Development Agency in US, International Finance Corporation and the World Bank about judicial practice ways and resource dispute resolutions. What¡¯s more, she also offered trainings of negotiation skills for UN officials.
She wrote two books, "Consumer Financial Dispute Resolution in a Comparative Context" (Cambridge University Press, 2012) and "Resolving Disputes in the Asia Pacific Region: International Arbitration and Mediation in East Asia and the West" (Routledge, 2010).
